On October 1, 2025, Sazerac announced its acquisition of Western Son Vodka and its distillery in Pilot Point, Texas. The deal, with financial terms undisclosed, adds the small-batch vodka and gin producer to Sazerac’s expansive portfolio, further strengthening its foothold in the American spirits market.
Founded in 2011, Western Son has become one of Texas’s fastest-growing craft vodka brands, building a loyal following with its locally crafted vodkas, offering both unflavored and flavored varieties like blueberry, lemon, and prickly pear, alongside a distinctive gin. The brand’s regional appeal and artisanal approach align with Sazerac’s strategy to diversify its offerings while maintaining a focus on quality. “Western Son is a strong brand that enhances our portfolio and boosts our production capabilities,” said Sazerac CEO Jake Wenz.
This acquisition marks Sazerac’s third major move in the past 18 months, following its acquisition of distribution rights for Svedka Vodka in the U.S. from Constellation Brands in late 2024 and BuzzBallz, a ready-to-drink cocktail brand, in March 2024. These additions complement Sazerac’s existing lineup, which includes iconic names like Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, and Wheatley Vodka. The inclusion of Western Son’s distillery also expands Sazerac’s production network, which already spans facilities in Kentucky, France, India, and Ireland.

The move comes at a time of heightened activity in the spirits industry, with competitors like Tito’s Handmade Vodka recently acquiring Texas-based Lalo Tequila. Sazerac’s focus on vodka, a cornerstone of the global spirits market, positions it to capture growing consumer interest in craft and regional brands. However, the company also faces challenges, including ongoing litigation over its Fireball and Parrot Bay Rum products.
By integrating Western Son, Sazerac not only enriches its vodka offerings but also taps into Texas’s vibrant spirits culture. The acquisition signals a broader trend of consolidation in the industry, as major players seek to balance scale with authenticity to meet evolving consumer tastes. As Sazerac continues to expand, the spotlight will be on how it leverages Western Son’s regional charm to drive growth in an increasingly competitive market.
