Brendan Whitworth will step down as chief executive of Anheuser-Busch and president of AB InBev’s North America Zone at the end of November. He is leaving to become chief executive of Equinox, the luxury fitness chain.
Whitworth joined AB InBev in 2013 and was named to the North America role in July 2021. His tenure covered the period following the 2023 Bud Light controversy.
Michel Doukeris, chief executive of AB InBev, will oversee the North America business on an interim basis until a successor is named. The North America leadership team will report directly to him. Doukeris previously led the North America business from 2018 to 2021 before taking the global role.
In a statement, Doukeris said the U.S. strategy in place since 2018 had produced an industry-leading portfolio, strong alignment with wholesaler partners, and sustained commercial momentum. Whitworth expressed confidence in the continued performance of the North America business.
A new leader for the North America Zone is expected to be announced in due course.
