MGP Ingredients Becomes Sempreon in Corporate Rebrand

MGP Ingredients has renamed itself Sempreon, reflecting its growth beyond a single distillery into three distinct businesses.

On November 2, 2026, MGP Ingredients officially became Sempreon. The change took effect the same day the company’s Nasdaq ticker switched from MGPI to CASK and its new website, sempreon.com, went live.

The rename places the company’s three businesses under a single parent identity. Branded Spirits includes the portfolio built through the 2021 acquisition of Luxco and the 2023 purchase of Penelope Bourbon, among them Penelope, Yellowstone, Rebel, Remus, Ezra Brooks, and El Mayor Tequila. Distilling Solutions supplies bulk spirits, custom mash bills, and aging services, primarily from the Lawrenceburg, Indiana distillery acquired in 2011. Ingredient Solutions produces specialty wheat proteins, starches, and dietary fibers for food manufacturers.

The company was founded in 1941 in Atchison, Kansas, by Cloud L. Cray, Sr. as a distillery focused on industrial alcohol production. The 2011 acquisition of the former Seagram facility in Lawrenceburg gave it large-scale capacity for bourbon and rye and established it as a major supplier of bulk whiskey to other companies. Since 2012 that distillery has worked with more than 1,000 American whiskey customers.

The New Economics of Spirits 2026

The name Sempreon combines the Latin word semper, meaning always, with the Greek word aion, meaning eternity. The company describes the idea as “Tradition Looking Forward.” Matias Bentel, chief marketing officer, has said the name brings the businesses together under one identity while the names of the distilleries, including MGP and Lux Row, continue. Julie Francis, president and chief executive officer, has described the change as the next chapter for a company that has grown from a single distillery into three distinct businesses.

In the third quarter of 2026, Branded Spirits sales declined 4% overall, though Penelope Bourbon rose 12% and mid-priced brands rose 6%. Distilling Solutions continued to face an oversupplied whiskey market. Ingredient Solutions sales increased 5%.
